This shows us in 1984 when we first went to China. We worked for the Academia Sinica or also known as the Chinese National Academy of Sciences. The Chinese National Academy of Sciences has branches all over China covering many facets of science. Our branch concerned computers and data processing. Our job entailed preparing the Chinese scientists with enough English skills to go abroad for advanced training or research projects. We had about 100 students from many branches at our school. Pictured you can see Bernice and Paul Noll, Kay Hudson and Ron Yi. Ron, on his own time and money had come to the school to better his English. Kay, we had recruited to help in our teaching efforts. We had 100 students with only two teachers.
