35. Our Wild Pig Deterrent

Off to the left corner of the deck lies our "Wild Pig Deterrent." Dad made a copy of one he saw in Japan when he lived there during the war. Water fills the hollow bamboo pipe and when filled it tips and empties and then returns to it original position with a solid thump. This scares off any wild pigs that might do damage to the plants and flowers. A friend, when I explained the use of the device, said that there were no pigs in a hundred miles. I said that it must then work well.
