Grampa James Alanzo Noll

Myra Noll/Webster Family

11. Grampa James Alonzo Noll

My Dad's father James A. Noll sent enough money for the three of us boys to ride the Greyhound Bus from Arlington, California to Seattle, Washington to spend the summer with him on his farm. The farm was out in the woods miles from Gig Harbor. There was no electricity or running water on the farm. There was a well on the front porch. He grew most of what we ate. He had chickens, ducks and geese and we would eat the eggs and them on occasion. He treated us well and we loved him. He taught us a lot about life and manners.

We spent about three or four summers with him. He was the best Grandfather a boy could have. He was a good cook and loved to make us custard on his wood stove.
