Paul Noll Growing Up
117. Paul Noll, Manager for Pacific Telephone In 1953 I went to work for Pacific Telephone Company. The government changed the rules for education and I had to stop taking courses at UC Berkeley. I applied for a job at the telephone company and went to work the next day. That was in May 23, 1953 and for some 25 years until Oct 30, 1978 I would work there. I started as a Frameman for $49 a week in Oakland, CA. About a year later I was promoted to Switchman. A few years later I applied for a transfer to Hayward and became a Toll Transmissionman. A few years later I was promoted to my boss's job as Chief Transmission man. Shortly after that I was transferred to San Francisco as a Systems Analyst in the Circuit Provision Bureau. Later I went into the Computer business at the phone company. In 1978 I began to write books on computers and left the Company to go into business for myself teaching Computer seminars all over the world. Bernice and I did this for 20 years until we began to teach in China. I am in the back row 5th from the left. ⇦ Back to Page 116 On to Page 118 ⇨Return to Paul Growing Up - Page 15 |
