This requirement takes place whether you fly a 747 of a two-passenger plane. You check that the fuel tanks have been filled. You check that the controls work correctly. You check the oil level, tire pressure, and that the instruments work properly. You set the altimeter to the airport altitude. You make sure the fuel in the gas tanks is gasoline and no water in the tank.
