Austrian Black Pine
(European Black Pine)

Pinus nigra Arnold Introduced, cone-bearing, resinous tree with straight trunk and dense rounded, spreading crown of dark green foliage. Height: 60 feet. Needles: evergreen; 2 in bundle; 3 1/2 - 6 inches long; crowded, stiff, shiny dark green. Native to Austria, Italy, Yugoslavia and Greece. Planted in England for shelter and for ornament. We planted it here in 2006 it has done well so far. In 2007 it has doubled in size.
