Unemployment is inching toward 12 percent, and we're in the deepest recession in 25 years. Yes -- the perfect time to start a business. "You think, oh jeez, especially with the economy the way it is, am I crazy for opening a store right now," asks Jeannette Singler, new business proprietor in Pleasant Hill. In November 2008 my daughter and I moved to Eugene, Or. James (now my fiancé) and I decided we wanted to go back into quilting. We found a cute little store in Pleasant Hill, Or and opened up shop on January 2, 2009. We sell fabric, buttons, patterns and other small items. Our goal is to some day soon (hopefully 2009) start quilting classes.
