27. Band Saw - Sears Craftsman

Here we show our new band saw. The band saw was one of the first tools Paul bought back in 1956. In 2005 it began to die and had to be replaced. It is used often to make curved cuts. As you can see each tool is hooked up to the dust vacuum with a flexible hose. A yellow gate valve at the end of the hose selects which hose is active to which tool. A switch on the right turns on the dust vacuum. We have added a light for better light. We also have added a separate switch on the parts tray to turn on both the light and saw. We use the coffee can in the tray to put in the small pieces cut so they can go into the wood stove and not end up on the floor. Most all of our power tools came from Sears. Joining the Craftsman Club is free and gives you special reduced prices. Our 12 inch Band Saw is a Sears Craftsman Model 137.224320. The motor developes 1 HP and has 2 speeds 1510 and 2600 F.P.M. (no load). It uses an 80 inch blade up to 1/2 inch.
