Chet at Fourteen Years, 1971

Chet Leland Noll's Fourteenth Birthday

Picture 3

Chet has begun to be a young man and had need of clothes befitting his new status. A new shirt and a tie clip meet this new need. Dad gives him his 15-year tie clip awarded by Pacific Telephone Company. He entered his violin in the Alameda County Fair and wins a Grand Champion Prize in art. He was happy about that. His Dad had suggested that the violin was perhaps a little too difficult for him and that just challenged him all the more. Chet always enjoyed a challenge and took on many difficult things in his life and still does.

Chet had developed an interest in biology. For biology class he de-fleshed a bird and mounted and named each bone of the bird. It was quite a project. Mom was thrilled to have the bird boiled in her kitchen. His biology teacher had correctly challenged Chet in her class.
