When the boys were very young, Bernice bought Chet a plastic egg. Chet could not eat anything when he was very young except rice cereal so at Easter the plastic egg was his substitute. It became one of their favorite toys. When you squeezed it, it had a whistle and they loved it. They made paper clothes for it and had lots of fun with "Egge" as they named it. One day while riding in the car they began to fight over Egge and to stop the fighting Bernice put Egge in the glove compartment of the car and slammed to door on Egge. The hinge cut a hole in Egge and later after they stopped and retrieved Egge it was discovered Egge had a hole in him. Mom had "Killed" Egge. There was much moaning, crying and even Bernice was sorely distressed. When Dad came home he was informed of the tragedy. Dad got out the plastic pool repair kit and with his surgical skill operated on Egge and restored him to life again much to the delight of both Mom and the Boys. Egge lived a long and healthy life although his whistle expired some years later.
