Mount Lassen National Park 30. A Hike in the Snow One afternoon we organized a hike from high on the road down to another parking area. The distance amounted to about 4 miles all downhill. We took a compass to help us keep going in the right direction and a geodetic survey map to help us. Dad's compass has sighting bars so we can take readings to know where we might have strayed. No path existed and we just started across country. We had fun finding our way having to cross streams, and avoiding a cliff. Dad then got a ride back up the road to get our van. ⇦ Back to Page 29 On to Page 1 ⇨Hi-Res Pic (146K) Return to Mt. Lassen -- Page 4 |
