Cascade Mountain Ash

Sorbus Scopulina - This is a small tree, only about 8-10 feet. It usually branches from the base, rather than having a definite trunk. Commonly found growing in the shade of larger trees. Leaves are compound, each with about 11 leaflets. Each leaflet has toothed edges and is about 1-2 inches long. In late summer, clusters of orange-red fruits appear. The birds use them as a source of food. The leaves will turn shades of red, orange, or yellow in the fall.
