Fragrant Fringecup

Tellima grandiflora - Locally common, late spring, perennial, 13-34 in. Tuft of heart-shaped leaves, upright stem. Plant slightly hairy throughout. Leaves 2-3 in. wide, with shallow lobes, sharp teeth; stem leaves become smaller and clasp stem. Flower spike 1-sided, with many flowers. Flower is a deep cup with deeply fringed petals opened flat, white lightly tinted green or sometimes red, very fragrant. Grows in moist forests, along streams, below treeline. Native.
