Devil's Matchstick Lichen

Pilophorus acicularis - A medium-sized, upright club lichen, 10-30 mm tall, often arising from a thin, whitish crust; clubs clustered, whitish to pale greenish, minutely roughened, mostly unbranched, terminating in shiny black balls. Found over rock in cool, moist forests, often near waterfalls, at all forested elevations; common.
