Subalpine Mariposa Lily

Calochortus subalpinus - Uncommon, midsummer, perennial, to 8 in. Stem upright, unbranched, with basal grass-like leaf. Leaf flat, about as long as stem. Flowers 1-5, clustered at top, creamy white, with long hairs inside, often with purple crescent near base of petal. Sepals about same length as petals; each sepal with single purple dot. Grows in forests, dry meadows, at mid to high elevations. Native.
