Sickle Keeled Lupine

Lupinus albicaulis Locally common, midsummer, perennial, 1-2 ft. Erect plant, flowers on upright stem above leaves. Silky hairs cover the foliage. Leaves palmately divided into 5-10 leaflets. Flower spike 4-15 in. long, loosely arranged, dull white, purple, or yellow, keel strongly upward-curving, tip pointing up through petals. Grows on open dry slopes in foothills and mountains, Native.
