Hypomyces lactifluorum - Bumpy, bright red to orange-red mold growing on various white species of Lactarius and Russula mushrooms. Edibility: Choice with caution, it could potentially parasitize a poisonous species. Season: July to October. Habitat: In woods on white Lactarius and Russula mushrooms. Range throughout North America.
