Leshan and Mount Emei 5. Mount Emei at evening The sky in the evening was beautiful. We stayed at the only hotel at the top. We were on the second floor. To get to the second floor you climbed a ladder leaning against the wall. The hotel was full of rats that scampered everywhere throughout the night. The mattress was straw and we were given sleeping bags and an army overcoat. The light, powered by a generator, went out at 10 PM. The toilets were about a half-mile away. We had a loaf of bread and the rats were trying to get it from the desk where Bernice had put it. She then put it in my sleeping bag and the rats then tried to chew my bag to get it again. Bernice and Paul pose with three of the four Chinese Scientists Boss Yang sent to guide us. The other takes the picture. ⇦ Back to Page 4 On to Page 6 ⇨Return to Mount Emei Page 1 |
