Jiangxi is dominated by Poyang Lake and is enclosed by hills to the south, west, and east. Jiangxi was the revolutionary base of the early Communist movement. Important industries in Jiangxi are copper, timber, motor manufacturing and military equipment. Jiangxi is an important major producer of copper, gold, lead, lithium, tungsten, uranium and zinc. In all it has 70 different kinds of mineral deposits. The province produces significant amounts of cotton, tea, sugar cane, sesame, oil-bearing seeds, and freshwater fish. Its moist climate allows a double rice harvest and China's largest rice exporter. Jiangxi is especially rich in firs, camphor trees, and bamboo.
