Coolie Labor - 37

This peasant is pulling a handcart loaded with rubble from the construction of a drainage ditch. His load weighs hundreds of pounds. He most likely is hired by a construction labor crew. The city of Chengdu is digging an eight-mile ditch for flood control drainage. The word "Coolie" in English comes from a Chinese word "Kuli" which means "Bitter Labor." The cart ahead of him is hauling concrete slabs.
