18. Ditch along Remen Nan Lu

This photo shows how deep the ditch would be. The ditch went on for miles. Several thousand men work on this project. Some dig, others fill their baskets and climb the slanted boards with the cleat to the top and deposit the dirt nearby for use when they have to cover the drainage pipe.
