We had excellent relations with the town of Sinchon. After we were there for a short while the town had a big celebration for us. There was singing, dancing and speeches. Here the mayor of the town is giving a speech. There was a fine dinner prepared for all of us and then gifts were given. I still have the silk scarf they gave to each of us.

A teacher invited me to teach some classes to his students. I could read and write Korean so I had a great time. Once while going to the school across the bridge in my truck it collapsed. It seems like the whole town came out to help pull the truck back to the road. We were all covered with mud but we got it back without harm. We often shared food with the town people.
