Whenever our company went by ship after getting to Japan, the truck drivers traveled with the truck. On the voyage to Korea to land at Inchon, I traveled on the Freighter Robin Trent. That way when you load up or disembark the driver is there to drive it on and off. I considered it a big improvement over a troopship, because you have so few troops. Food was minimal but I made a special deal. Because no longshoremen are available to load and unload, each ship has a Japanese crew to load and unload. I made arrangements to eat with the Japanese crew. I had made friends with the cook and it proved to be good chow.
