Sgt. Woods was a World War II vet who seemed old because most of us were very young. I don't recall him ever raising his voice to anyone. He was more like a father figure than a ramrod. Sergeants are the backbone of any military force. A good one and most are good, keep the men motivated by pride and good guidance. We were fortunate to have Sgt. Woods. The stone path keeps you out of the mud when it rains.
