Site operation procedures required a vehicle go from the site to base camp at Stonestown every day for mail, movies and rations. It was also to pick up dispatches, new frequencies and codes. This trip was also used to transport Korean and military personnel back and forth from site to town. The cooks would stay on site 2 or 3 days and then rotate with another cook.

Many of the site personnel including myself would elect to walk all or part of the road at times to avoid injury and bruising to our rears or other body parts. We had many sprained wrists. and broken fingers caused by the rough ride. There were a few serious accidents and one I remember one involving an Air Force tech that was on site and a friend.

He had to be flown out to Osan AB by helicopter because of a truck accident. We never saw him again but later found out he went back to the States and received a medical discharge because of a bum knee. It was crushed in the truck crash on Richmond Site road. I was supposed to be on that truck run to Camp Ames but he replaced me at the last minute because he had more important business.
