Richmond Relay - 1969-70
29. Road to the Richmond Site - "Roadrunners"
The views from Richmond Site were spectacular. A large reservoir and the Kum River could be seen to the northeast. Later when I got back to the United States, it took me awhile to get unaccustomed to being on top of a mountain and I missed the views very much. Sometime on a calm and clear night we could see the lights from our neighboring sites Salem, Tacoma and Highpoint, twinkling 25-30 mi. away. Sometime we saw flares going off and rushed to a radio to call to see if all was o.k. It too was usually the weather or an animal setting off a trip flare ⇦ Back to Page 28 Return to Page 4 On to Page 30 ⇨ |
