The word "Strategic" had been dropped from STRATCOM's name and became the U.S. Army Communications Command (USACC) in 1973. The command became U.S. Army Information Systems Command (ISC) in '84 and moved to various Force Commands and Major Sub-Ordinate Commands. It is re-designated in the late 1990's and transferred its management to 9th Army Signal Command in Sept.'97. Now the command is called Network Communications Command / 9th Signal Command (Army). The combining of the U.S. Army Network Enterprise Technology Command and the 9th Army Signal Command in Oct, 2002 was an action of the Department of Army that also resulted in joining the two unit's lineages back in history. |
