Activation of the Netcom / 9th Signal Command (A) in Oct 1st, 2002 centralized the Army's Information System assets and made it the operational executive agent for the Army wide network operations and security. It is known as the "Single voice of the Army Network" and their slogan is "We Resist, We Provide, We Ensure, We Spearhead."

Netcom's powerful information networks provide ever increasing amounts of voice and data messages throughout the world. Up to date technologies such as video teleconferencing allows a forward-deployed commander to talk face-to-face with his support units in the U.S. from where ever they are in the world. The commands soldiers and civilians are developing, fielding, installing and maintaining the best echelons above corps communications systems.

NETCOM continues to carry out the mission of providing the vital communications of command as did the signal units before them. In World War II, the Korean War, Viet Nam and numerous isolated and unheard of places the soldiers of the Signal Corps have been in service and ready to operate under any conditions. Haiti, Panama, Somalia, Bosnia and Desert Shield and Desert Storm are examples of the commands success. Hurricanes and other natural disasters are other types of mission assignments that are carried out by the communicators of Netcom / 9th SC (A).

The units and signalers of the 581st Signal Company, 5761st Signal Company, STRATCOM Long-Lines Bn, 8226th AU (Army Unit) GHQ Long lines and other EUSA and Air Force communications have accomplished their mission and should be proud. Today our comrades in the 1st Signal Brigade, Netcom / 9th SC (A) continue our past mission of communications for Korea. They will always be remembered with the highest esteem by this proud to have served signal veteran and it is an honor to have served our Great Country in the same United States Army Signal Corps.   Hi-Res Pic (213K)
