9. Map Showing Inchon Task Force

The main body of the 1st Marine Division had landed at Kobe 29 August to 3 September. Parts of the Division came from Yokohama, Sasebo and others from the port of Pusan where they had been sent to reinforce the Pusan perimeter with the 25th Army Infantry Division. The Yokohama contingent departed on 5 to 9 September. The Kobe contingent departed 10 to 12 September. The Pusan contingent embarked on 13 September. Typhoon Jane complicated the plans by striking Kobe with winds of 74 MPH. Another typhoon, Kezia threatened to strike sometime in the 12 to 13 September. Each contingent had to join the task force at their designated point for the force to arrive at the right time 15 September. 500 Marines under the age of 18 had been left behind for the initial assault. The Seventh Marines were still enroute from other points and would join the Division later at Inchon
