Through the doors of the Home have walked boys of every creed and many races. Boys from Lark Ellen have lead exemplary lives. A number of them have chosen to stay with in the area, such as Joe Searcy, a former Glendora Policeman; Bob Bjorklund, a fireman with L.A County; Harry Nissen, a retired minister and Art Broines, counselor at Citrus College. Bjorklund who lived there with his brother Ed after their father died, from 1944-1953, recalls Christmas mornings when they would receive clothing, get a silver dollar each and the wonderful party held at the Biltmore Hotel. Actor Del Monroe, best know for his role as "Kawalski" on Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", had also lived there.

Many area service organizations were acquainted with the Home which became service projects for many of the local clubs.

Joe Searcy, an alumni of Lark Elen Home for Boys, a graduate of Citrus High School and former Glendora policemen, in 1959 composed the Glendora Alma Mater. It was Carol Provost, then a sophomore at Glendora High, who penned the words to go with Searcy's music.
