Vancouveria hexandra (Barberry family - Berberidaceae) - Small, pointed white flowers in open clusters on smooth stalks supported by leafless stems, and leathery pinnately compound leaves that grow in patches. Flowers: about 1/2 inch long; 6 white sepals sharply bent back at the base. Flowers in May to July. Found in shady coniferous woods from Washington to Northwestern California. Native.
