Wildflowers Found in Oregon Cladonia Cariosa Lichen Cladonia cariosa Podetia (stalk) pale greenish gray to whitish, to 2.5 cm tall, with distinct longitudinal fissures, plus or minus branched towards top, often tipped with brown apothecia; cortex continuous at first, soon warty and fissured; primary squamules small to medium, to 7 x 2 mm but generally much smaller. Range is widespread, common throughout the Pacific Northwest. Found in roadcuts, streambanks, and other disturbed sites, exposed to somewhat sheltered; valleys to subalpine, occasionally alpine.
